Creativity Conversation on sound and sculpture is March 25

A Creativity Conversation with Dana Haugaard and Linda Armstrong will be held Wednesday, March 25, at 4 p.m. in the Chase Upper Lobby of the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts.

This free, public event is sponsored by Emory’s Center for Creativity & Arts.

Haugaard is the Donna and Marvin Schwartz Artist-in-Residence and premiered March 5-6 a sound and sculpture installation entitled "Now, More Than Ever" on view at the Emory Visual Arts Gallery on Peavine Creek Drive.

“The Creativity Conversation will discuss the creative process of collaboration and the haptic use of sound,” says Armstrong, who is a sculptor and senior lecturer in art history in Emory College of Arts & Sciences.

Haugaard’s project, “Now, More Than Ever,” explored the intersection of technology and the senses in the form of a site-specific sculptural installation in the former Visual Arts Gallery. “This project culminated in a series of public performances featuring the interactive choreography of [Atlanta dance artist] Blake Beckham’s Lucky Penny Dance Company,” Armstrong notes.

Haugaard started making and studying art during his time at Emory where he double-majored in art history and visual art. He maintained his public art practice in Atlanta until 2009 when he began his graduate art degree at the University of Iowa, graduating in 2012.
