Suzanne Staebler, DNP, APRN, associate clinical professor at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University was selected as one of eight nurse educators to participate in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) 2015 Faculty Policy Intensive (FPI) program. The four-day immersion program is held in Washington, DC on March 23-26th

Now in its third year, the FPI is a program designed for faculty at the AACN member schools. Selection is based on nursing educators who are interested in elevating their role in shaping health policy. The selected faculty members receive the opportunity to enhance their existing knowledge of policy and advocacy through sessions that strengthen an understanding of the legislative process.

"Healthcare policy is a fundamental element to healthcare overall," explains Staebler who is also a nurse practitioner at Grady Hospital System.  "I am thrilled to be selected into a program that recognizes its importance and cultivates the relationships between federal departments, agencies, and nursing. This is an imperative dialogue that I am honored to facilitate."
