National Book Award finalist Claudia Rankine reads Thursday, Dec. 4, as the final event in the "What's New in Poetry?" series. The event is set for 8 p.m. in the Admissions Auditorium, located on the top floor of the Emory Bookstore Building at 1390 Oxford Road.
The Jamaica-born Rankine is author of five poetry collections and two plays. Her collection "Citizen: An American Lyric," which recounts mounting racial aggressions in ongoing encounters in daily life and the media, was finalist for the National Book Award for poetry in 2014.
She is Henry G. Lee Professor of English at Pomona College and a chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.
"What's New in Poetry?" is a reading series by the Emory Poetry Council focused on emerging and mid-career writers.
