The Emory Heart & Vascular Center of Hiawassee is welcoming a new addition to its expert team of cardiologists. Gina Lundberg, MD, the clinical director of Emory Women's Heart Center and assistant professor of medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, is the newest member of the staff at the North Georgia location.

Lundberg joins other Emory specialists in cardiology, vascular disease, heart failure and rhythm disorders who travel from Atlanta to serve the medical community in Hiawassee and surrounding areas.

They provide comprehensive evaluation and management services for a wide range of cardiac and vascular diseases and offer in-office cardiac and vascular diagnostic testing and services including: treadmill testing, echocardiography and stress echocardiography, nuclear testing, arrhythmia monitoring and cardiac device care (pacemaker/ICD). Patients will also be able to sign up for Emory Healthcare educational seminars and learn about clinical trials.

"I'm delighted with this opportunity to work closely with the people of North Georgia," says Lundberg. "My husband and I have a home in Clayton, Georgia, so I have spent the last twelve years as a member of the weekend community and look forward to spending more time here to get to know them even better and help meet their healthcare needs."

In 1998, Lundberg founded and directed the first women's cardiac prevention program in the state of Georgia and in 2007 started the Saint Joseph's Heart Center for Women. Earlier this year she helped launch the Emory Women's Heart Center, a new program uniquely dedicated to the screening, prevention and treatment of heart disease in women with six locations across the metro Atlanta area.

Emory's Heart & Vascular Center is consistently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top centers in the United States.
