Class will host public talk on climate change in India

A three-part discussion on climate change will take place Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 2  p.m. in 111 White Hall.

The discussion, to be led by Imperial London College Dr. Simon Buckle, is part of an economics class, "India Today: Economics, Politics, Innovation and Sustainability." The class session is open to the public

The discussion is aimed at a general audience, says Holli Semetko, Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Media and International Affairs, who teaches the class.

A basic introduction to climate change will be followed by a discussion of projections from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and potential policy response, including diversity among states, extreme weather, India's path of development and its climate change policy.

Buckle is director of policy at the Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College. He is also a member of the scientific team leading the United Kingdom's Department of Energy and Climate Change and he played a leading role in creating the European Institute for Innovation and Technology's Climate Europe to accelerate and stimulate innovation in climate change adaptation and mitigation.
