Emory Johns Creek Hospital’s first baby of the New Year was born at 2:29 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2014. Little Shivani Patel weighed in at 4 pounds, 15 ounces. Shivani was also the first New Year’s baby born within the Emory Healthcare system.

Proud parents, Hemangini and Panchshil Patel, are thrilled that their baby girl was born on New Year’s Day. “This is a very special way to start 2014,” says new dad Panchshil Patel, MD, who is also a hospital medicine physician at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. The baby’s original due date was Jan. 20.

Mom, dad and baby are all doing well after a big day.

Baby Patel was one of two babies total born at Emory Johns Creek Hospital on Jan. 1. Emory University Hospital Midtown delivered three babies on New Year’s Day, with the first one arriving at 12:25 p.m.
