In December, Music at Emory wraps up the semester and ushers in the holidays. Jazz and music of Asia, including vocal selections, are on tap, as well as holiday traditions.

Fall Jazz Concert

The Fall Jazz Concert will kick off the month at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3. This concert features Emory students performing in the Emory Big Band, Small Band and Jazz Combos.

On Friday, Dec. 6 at noon, Bach's Lunch will be held in the Michael C. Carlos Museum as a part of the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta Noontime Series. The performance will feature two seminal works for solo strings, performed by Yinzi Kong, viola, and Domenic Salerni, violin.

A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols will take place at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. This performance is held in the Glenn Auditorium and tickets are $20 for general admission, $15 for discount category members and $5 for Emory students.

The Emory Wind Ensemble, a select group of Emory students playing wind and percussion instruments, will have their final performance of the semester at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Echoes of Asia, on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Studio, will feature vocal music that reflects the distinct styles of Asia.

The Emory University Symphony Orchestra will have their last performance of the semester on Monday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. with a repertoire that includes Brahms and Mendelssohn, featuring Emory students Sunny Yue, violin, and Laurie Ann Taylor, mezzo soprano.

The chorus shares the excitement and promise of Christmas with special guests such as Jamie Barton, 2013 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for discount category members and $10 for Emory students.

As a part of the Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta Noontime Series, the chamber music ensembles will perform in Santa's Favorite Chamber Music at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15 in the Michael C. Carlos Museum, with Old Saint Nick there to pass out treats to listeners.
