Emory Johns Creek Hospital has been named to the Georgia Hospital Association's (GHA) Chairman's Circle for patient safety in 2012. The Chairman's Circle is the second highest category in the GHA's Hospital Engagement Network (HEN) recognition program and places the hospital between the 80th and 90th percentile or above. The hospital is now in the top third of all 116 Georgia hospitals participating in the GHA HEN.
"We are delighted by this honor, which confirms the splendid work of our doctors and staff members, who every day make patient care and safety their top priority," says Craig McCoy, CEO of Emory Johns Creek Hospital. "We will continue enhancing our efforts in these crucial areas."
The Hospital Engagement Network (HEN) is a national contract awarded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), which engages hospitals across the country to improve patient safety and quality and achieve lower costs. The goal of the HEN, which kicked off at the beginning of 2012, aims to reduce hospital-acquired conditions statewide by 40 percent and hospital readmissions by 20 percent by the end of 2013.
The GHA's Research and Education Foundation is one of 26 organizations in the U.S. to be awarded this CMS contract. Funding supports vigorous educational activities, quality improvement initiatives and other resources to help Georgia hospitals. The potential savings from this program is greater than $300,000,000 in Georgia for five of the hospital-acquired conditions.
"With the leadership and commitment of the staff at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, these significant, life-saving goals for patient care and safety are contributing to better outcomes for our patients," says McCoy.
