A new Life of the Mind lecture will feature Lawrence P. Jackson, professor of African American Studies and English, discussing perspectives from his most recent book with James L. Roark, Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of History.
The Life of the Mind lecture "Reflections on Virginia Slavery and Contemporary American Life: A Family History," will be Wednesday, March 6, at 4 p.m. in the Jones Room of the Woodruff Library.
Jackson and Roark will be introduced by Mark Sanders, professor of African American Studies and English.
Following the discussion, Jackson will sign copies of his book, "My Father's Name: A Black Virginia Family After the Civil War" (University of Chicago Press, 2012).
The event is free and open to the public.
The Life of Mind series celebrates Emory's outstanding faculty and the intellectual community of the university. It is sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Faculty Council.
