A web site dedicated to the University Senate's ongoing lecture series, "Shaping Emory's Future: Challenges and Opportunities in the 21st Century," now offers those who may have missed presentations another chance to view them.
The web site provides links to video and media coverage of the ongoing talks, which will continue next year with two more presentations:
"The Law of More: Unmanaged Cost Growth in Universities," by Jeff Denneen, who earned undergraduate and business degrees from Emory and is now partner and head of America's Higher Education Practice for Bain & Company. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at 4 p.m., Winship Ballroom.
"Financial Aid: Moral Imperative, Competitive Tool, or Unsustainable Burden?" by Sandy Baum, professor emerita of economics at Skidmore College, senior fellow at the George Washington University School of Education and Human Development, and senior associate at the Institute for Higher Learning. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, 4 p.m., Jones Room, Woodruff Library.
Sponsored by the University Senate, the talks address critical issues affecting the funding of private research universities. They are free and open to the public.
Video coverage of the first two lectures — featuring Cornell University professor Ronald Ehrenberg, whose expertise is in higher education funding, and University of Pennsylvania professor Robert Zemsky, chair of the Learning Alliance for Higher Education — are now available for viewing, along with related question-and-answer sessions.
