In celebration of International Education Week, Emory and the Atlanta Passport Agency have partnered to offer students and faculty the opportunity to apply for or renew their passport on campus during the annual Summer Study Abroad Fair hosted by the Center for International Programs Abroad (CIPA).
The event takes place Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. CIPA advisers and financial aid representatives will be in the Dobbs University Center to talk with undergraduate students interested in the summer abroad experience.
To date, nearly 50 percent of graduating seniors have participated in Emory’s summer study abroad program.
“Emory College encourages and supports international study. This is reflected in the large percentage of students participating in international study, research and service experiences,” says Kenya Casey, CIPA associate director. “As an international educator, I believe that traveling abroad makes students more competitive candidates for national fellowships, graduate and professional schools, and future employment.”
One of the highlights of the fair is the opportunity for students, staff and faculty to conveniently renew their passport right on campus at the DUC. Those interested will need to provide proof of U.S. citizenship, a previous U.S. passport or consular report of birth abroad, a valid photo identification and a recent passport photograph.
The cost of a passport is $135 for first time applicants, $110 for those renewing after 10 years and $105 for applicants that are minors. To expedite the processing time, a fee of $60 will be charged.
