On Monday, Oct. 22, the campus community is invited to gather for free food and fellowship to celebrate the progress of Emory's strategic plan, the 10-year roadmap that guides Emory to achieve its mission and vision.

A conference-style poster session will showcase the contributions of faculty, staff and students to Emory's strategic plan. This vibrant meeting of the minds will take place in Cox Hall Ballroom from 4 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 22.

See more than 60 posters illustrating the scholarly and community initiatives that Emory has invested in through the strategic plan, spanning a constellation of intellectual inquiry and community engagement.

Many of the poster presenters will be on hand to answer questions and talk about their work.

"The purpose of this symposium is to recognize the extraordinary breadth and significance of contributions from faculty, students and staff toward achieving Emory University's strategic plan goals," says Ruth Leinfellner, assistant director of University Strategic Planning.

The posters illustrate the tangible ways that Emory is:

• Strengthening faculty distinction

• Ensuring highest student quality and enhancing the student experience

• Creating community and engaging society

• Confronting the human condition and the human experience

• Exploring new frontiers in science and technology.

Selected posters will be on extended display from Oct. 23-25 at locations around campus, including WHSCAB Plaza, the Math and Sciences Building Atrium, the White Hall Atrium and the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts.

With three years remaining in Emory's strategic plan, now is the time to "reflect on where we are as we look ahead," said Provost Earl Lewis at a special event on Oct. 10 to honor Emory's strategic planners, deans and initiative leaders.

"We have achieved a great deal," Lewis said, citing "the Emory faculty, who continue to excel in teaching and research; the students who are increasingly engaged in scholarship and community service; and the programs and partnerships that are impacting and changing and shaping the world."

"Our challenge during the next three years," added President James Wagner, "will be to wrap up what we have begun while also preparing the strategic map for the next phase of Emory's journey."
