As part of its mission to facilitate opportunities for intercultural learning, Emory’s International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) office will offer a series of virtual intercultural communication workshops tailored for faculty and staff during the fall and spring.

The fall series will begin Thursday, Nov. 19, and conclude on Thursday, Dec. 10. The spring series will begin Thursday, March 18, and conclude Thursday, April 1.

Each comprehensive, three-part series will equip participants with essential intercultural communication skills, enabling them to engage effectively and appropriately across various cultural backgrounds when interacting with colleagues, students and community members.

“I really enjoyed the intercultural communication workshop and was happy I had an opportunity to attend,” says past participant Jennifer Ducksworth, senior program coordinator at Rollins School of Public Health. “The emphasis on self-awareness immediately set the tone for me and encouraged me to think more intentionally about my own identities, biases, cultural lens and how I engage with others.”

Upon completion of all three workshops, participants will receive a certificate, providing tangible evidence of their commitment to developing their intercultural effectiveness.
