September is National Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, foster connection and emphasize that support is available before a crisis occurs.

In recognition of this, Emory University and Emory Healthcare will offer programs and information about mental health and well-being resources for employees throughout September.

All programs are built on the foundation of, “It’s okay to not be okay. Support starts before a crisis.” Information focuses on encouraging early conversations, reducing stigma, increasing awareness of available resources, and supporting employees through year-round emotional, mental and social wellness programs.

The Office of Well-Being (EmWELL) and Revive (formerly Revive & Thrive) will host a series of brief “Know Before You Need It: Mental Health Resources” webinars for Emory Healthcare employees across shifts and work schedules. These 30-minute sessions will introduce mental health services, emotional well-being resources and support pathways that are available before a situation becomes urgent.

Webinars for Emory University employees include:

  • FAQs About Suicide Prevention”: Thursday, Sept. 10, at 12 p.m. Discover current research, recognize suicide warning signs, start meaningful conversations and access vital campus and community resources.
  • Referring a Team Member to FSAP (Faculty Staff Assistance Program)”: Thursday, Sept. 17, at 12 p.m. Gain practical skills and tips for approaching conversations about mental health and well-being with sensitivity and care.
  • FSAP Overview of Programs and Services”: Thursday, Sept. 24, at 12 p.m. Learn what programs, services and resources are available to university faculty and staff through FSAP.
  • Grief and Loss”: Thursday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. This webinar offers practical guidance and compassionate strategies to navigate grief in its many forms, plus how to access resources and build supportive practices.

One webinar, Know Before You Need It: Community Mental Health Resources” is open to the entire Emory community. Scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 12 p.m., this webinar will highlight community organizations dedicated to expanding access to mental health support, including NAMI Georgia, Claratel Behavioral Health Services, Amplify Voices and Her Promise Circle.

National Physician Suicide Awareness Day, observed Sept. 17, provides an additional opportunity to recognize the unique mental health challenges faced by healthcare professionals. Healthy Emory, FSAP and partners across Emory Healthcare will engage employees through awareness activities and resource outreach at several hospital locations.
