The Board of Trustees oversees the governance and long-term well-being of the institution by establishing policy and exercising fiduciary responsibility. The board may have up to 45 active trustees and each serves a six-year initial term; four-year renewable terms may follow.
Berlin served as a pastor in the Virginia Conference for 34 years before being elected as a bishop of The United Methodist Church in November 2022 by the Southeastern Jurisdiction. He was assigned to serve the Florida Episcopal Area in January 2023. He has chaired the Board of Governors at Wesley Theological Seminary, led delegations to General Conference, and served on the Commission on a Way Forward and the team that created the Protocol of Grace and Reconciliation through Separation. He is the author of more than a dozen books and studies used in congregations.
Berlin graduated from Virginia Tech and Candler School of Theology at Emory University, and was ordained an elder in 1990.
