Operation: Eat Right, Emory’s annual summer nutrition challenge, is back for 2021, kicking off on June 7.
The challenge, which runs through July 18, gives employees the opportunity to improve their nutrition. Super Dietitian, Healthy Emory’s animated nutrition sidekick, will guide participants through four activities:
- Healthy habit challenges: Focus on meal-planning skills and mindful-eating strategies.
- Logging food intake: Use MyFitnessPal within Emory’s health and wellness platform, Healthy Emory Connect, to track food intake.
- Nutrition and mindful-eating videos: Enjoy speakers who are instructors in Emory’s Healthy Kitchen Collaborative.
- Cooking demos:Attend virtually and learn about healthy cooking techniques with Chef Mike Bacha of Emory University Hospital.
Participants can earn points toward their Emory medical incentives by joining the challenge. Participating in the healthy habit challenges through Healthy Emory Connect and tracking food intake also enters participants in a drawing to win $25 and $50 gift cards.
“Due to COVID-19, many employees have had drastic changes in their day-to-day eating patterns and levels of physical activity,” says Dawn McMillian, registered dietitian and senior wellness specialist. “Operation: Eat Right gives employees a chance to wipe the slate clean from 2020 and start fresh to regain control of their diet. Employees can participate any time during the day, evening, weekend — whenever they have a few minutes.”
