Brad Haws will join Emory Healthcare as its new chief financial officer (CFO), effective Aug. 17, 2021.

Haws brings 30 years of financial leadership experience in health care to the position. He joins Emory Healthcare from University of Iowa Health Care where he was associate vice president and CFO. In this role, he had oversight for all financial operations, including revenue cycle finance, accounting, debt structure management, investment strategy, third-party contracting, risk management and strategy development.

Prior to that, Haws spent 13 years in the University of Virginia (UVA) health system, including leadership stints in its health care group and its school of medicine. Haws moved to UVA after a long career as CFO of Intermountain Health Care, Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Haws has an MBA from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University (BYU) and a BA in Political Science from BYU.

Current CFO Jimmy Hatcher will be with Emory Healthcare through the end of this calendar year for a planned transition period before retiring in January 2022.

Jonathan S. Lewin, MD, executive vice president for health affairs at Emory University and Emory Healthcare CEO, says Haws’ extensive experience in health care leadership roles will be a tremendous asset.

“Brad has a demonstrated track record of financial leadership in academic health care settings which is pivotal as we adapt to new realities in the wake of the pandemic,” Lewin says. “We look forward to working with Jimmy and Brad over the coming months to ensure a seamless transition."
