CAPS continues to offer workshops, other services to students during remote learning

Counseling and Psychological Services remains open and is offering HIPAA-compliant telehealth clinical services for Emory enrolled students via Zoom. They also have scheduled several interactive workshops about stress and procrastination during remote learning.
Many departments serving Emory’s students have adapted to the remote learning environment by introducing virtual workshops or other programs.
One such Campus Life department is Counseling and Psychological Services, which remains open and has fully transitioned to offering HIPAA-compliant telehealth clinical services for Emory enrolled students via Zoom.
Any student can speak with a counselor on-call or to talk with a member of the CAPS triage team who can assess needs and help with next steps (404-727-7450, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Students who have already connected with a CAPS counselor during the 2019-2020 academic year can reach out to that counselor directly.
For students who live outside Georgia, CAPS counselors also are available to clarify which services are available, help students sort out their concerns, provide continuity-of-care consultations and help students connect with their local resources if needed.
In addition, CAPS is offering online workshops for students focused on skill building and support:
- “Managing Stress and Anxiety during COVID-19” on Friday, April 10
- “Social Distancing Is Not Social Isolation” on Friday, April 17
- “Prepare for Procrastination” on Friday, April 24

For students interested in talking through issues with their peers, a series of peer-led virtual discussion groups, “Convos in Quarantine,” begins April 13 to address academics, concerns about the future, home life and feelings of loneliness.
Another series of programs begins April 14. “Virtually Mindful” is a mindfulness drop-in group that will be held on Tuesdays from April 14 to 28 at 1:30 p.m. Students can access the Zoom code here.
CAPS also is offering online discussion and support drop-in sessions for international students, and is providing strategies and coping tips through the department’s social media channels. For more information about any CAPS services, visit the department website.
