Emory Johns Creek Hospital, in partnership with the Johns Creek Police Department, is sponsoring a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Hospital officials encourage the community to participate by dropping off unused or expired medication at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. No needles or liquids will be accepted.
According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs. The report shows that many abused prescription drugs were acquired from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet.
The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Initiative helps residents properly dispose of prescription drugs to help prevent addiction and overdose deaths.
