Oxford College held its opening convocation on Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the Williams Gymnasium. Speakers included President-elect Claire Sterk; Oxford College Dean Douglas Hicks; Stuart Zola, interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs; Emory College Interim Dean Michael Elliott, and Muhammad Naveed, president of the Oxford Student Government Association.
After Convocation, first-year students took part in the Candlelight Procession, carrying candles across the quadrangle to Phi Gamma Hall, where sophomores welcome them as new members of the Oxford community.
