Emory’s Veterans Program will celebrate Military Heroes Night with the Atlanta Braves on Saturday, Aug. 15. For the fourth year in a row, Emory has supported the Braves in honoring members of the U.S. Armed Forces with a special day at the ballpark. The Braves will play the Arizona Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m. at Turner Field.
For four years, Emory has provided outreach and education programs for post-9/11 veterans and their families through a program funded by the McCormick Foundation and Major League Baseball’s Welcome Back Veterans Program.
“We remain committed to increasing awareness about posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), while providing access to mental health services for those impacted by the invisible wounds of war,” says Barbara Rothbaum, PhD, director of Emory’s Veterans Program and professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Emory University School of Medicine.
Representatives from Emory’s program will be in the Monument Grove area in front of the ballpark before the game to answer questions and provide information and brochures about the program.
