Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will host his 33rd annual Carter Town Hall meeting for Emory University freshmen at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in the Woodruff P.E. Center, 600 Asbury Circle, on the Emory campus. The event isnot open to the public, but press seating will be available.
After opening remarks by Senior Vice President and Dean of Campus Life Ajay Nair and President Carter, University Distinguished Professor at Emory, Carter will answer written questions from students (media will not be able to ask questions). He will answer as many questions as the one-hour timeframe permits.
Due to security requirements, it is recommended that media representatives arrive by 7:30 p.m. Do not bring any extra bags, purses, briefcases, etc.
Media Registration and credientials: This is a ticketed event with limited press seating, so media representatives planning to attend should register by 4 p.m. the day of the event by contacting Beverly Clark at 404-712-8780 or beverly.clark@emory.edu. Members of the media planning to attend must be registered and present press credentials and a photo ID at the door for admittance and reserved seating.
Parking: Free parking will be available in the Peavine Parking Deck or Peavine Parking Visitor Lot, located on 29 Eagle Row behind the Woodruff P.E. Center (the center is not accessible via Asbury Circle). Limited parking for television trucks will be available in service vehicle spots directly adjacent to the Woodruff P.E. Center on the Eagle Row side.
