Take a last look at and write a goodbye message on the windows of the Manuscript, Archives, Rare Book Library wraparound balcony on Friday, May 16, when the Woodruff Library hosts a “Woodruff Balcony Walkabout” event with light refreshments from 2 to 4 p.m.

MARBL is located on level 10 of the Woodruff Library.

MARBL closes the next day, May 17, to begin its temporary relocation to the 7th floor for a major renovation. The temporary location will open Monday, June 2, and the renovation will begin shortly after that.

"Guests can record their thoughts and hopes for the future of MARBL on its windows," says Christeene Fraser, administrative services coordinator of MARBL.

Some terrace space will remain, keeping the dramatic vistas of the University and the city skyline, when the new MARBL opens in late summer 2015. But the balcony will no longer wrap around the entire building.

Read more about the MARBL renovation, which will feature expanded spaces and technologically advanced classrooms.
