Workshop addresses parenting, caregiving for elder relatives

Employees who are parenting children while simultaneously providing care for elderly relatives can get some strategies and resources for assistance at a workshop on Thursday, April 17.

"The Sandwich Generation: Parenting Children While Providing Elder Care" will be held at noon in classroom 203 of the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.  It is being presented by the Emory WorkLife Resource Center.

The workshop will be facilitated by Marilyn Hazzard-Lineberger, director of behavioral health and outreach of Emory's Faculty Staff Assistance Program.

This workshop will focus on four major objectives:

  • defining and understanding the complexities of multiple generation caregiving
  • identifying the sources of stress associated with “sandwich” caregiving
  • discussing the personal and professional impact of multiple generation caregiving
  • identifying strategies and resources to assist with dual-role caregiving

The event is free and open to all Emory employees and their families. For more information, visit the Worklife Resource Center.
