Richard Prior, senior lecturer in composition and director of Orchestral Studies, will have his Symphony No. 3 played by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in the ASO's 2014-15 season.

Prior's symphony was premiered in 2011 by the Emory University Symphony Orchestra. Prior is the conductor of the EUSO and the Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The ASO will premier the revised version in three performances on Thursday, Nov. 20, Saturday, Nov. 22 and Sunday, Nov. 23 at Symphony Hall.

Prior said the Northwestern University Symphony will perform the original version on May 10 and the Cairo National Symphony will perform it on June 30.

Prior also holds the Edward Goodwin Scruggs Conducting Chair.
