Hello, Emory friends!

Emory may be operating remotely today due to the weather, but there is no shortage of news to share.

We’re remembering renowned epidemiologist William Foege, who passed away Jan. 24. Foege, a beloved Emory professor, is credited with devising the strategy to eradicate smallpox and inspired generations of global health leaders.

A new program through the Emory College Pathways Center is giving undergraduate students more access than ever before to Atlanta-area employers and alumni.

Keep reading for more stories, including how Emory is preparing to celebrate the World Cup in Atlanta this summer and an alumnus who was just named a Schwarzman Scholar — one of 150 recipients selected from more than 5,800 applicants.

We’ll see you next week! And remember, you can always check out the Emory News Center for the latest updates.
