Rashard Johnson has been named chief executive officer for Emory Decatur Hospital, Emory Hillandale Hospital, and Emory Long-Term Acute Care Hospital, beginning his new role on August 22. Johnson joins Emory Healthcare from Advocate Aurora Health in Chicago, where he is president of Advocate Trinity and South Suburban Hospitals. Todd E. Golde has been named the new director of the Emory Center for Neurodegenerative Disease in the Goizueta Institute @ Emory Brain Health. Golde will also be appointed a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar in Neuroscience, with a primary faculty appointment in Emory’s Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology and a secondary appointment in the Department of Neurology. An international expert in the scientific understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, Golde will expand Emory’s translational research for the development of new therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases, while facilitating interdisciplinary research in neuroinflammation, bridging the neuroscience and immunology communities. John Constantino is joining SOM as a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. Constantino will serve as Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s (CHOA) first system chief of Behavioral and Mental Health, leading efforts to address the growing epidemic of behavioral and mental health issues in children and adolescents in Georgia. Constantino comes to CHOA and Emory from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he served as the Blanche F. Ittleson Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics and director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, as well as Psychiatrist-in-Chief at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Read more.

An ongoing, collaborative project between the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing (SON) and CenterWell Home Health, part of Humana Inc., has led to a donation toward a named space at the new, state-of-the-art Emory Nursing Learning Center in Decatur. The gift will create the CenterWell Home Health Home Lab at the ENLC. The lab will resemble a small apartment for students to simulate care in the home. Michael Clery, assistant professor of emergency medicine and emergency medicine physician at Grady, is joining the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Violence Reduction as the inaugural deputy director. The new Rollins Immediate Care Center of Winship at Emory University Hospital has appointed its leadership team, with Anthony Hunter serving as medical director, Dani Casbourne as clinical director, and Delanda L. Bryson as unit director. Opened in April 2022, the Rollins Immediate Care Center provides acute care for Winship patients experiencing cancer-related symptoms that require immediate medical care. The Georgia Clinical & Translational Science Alliance is offering seed grants for studies of Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19 or Long COVID. It is soliciting proposals that generate preliminary data and refine research strategies for subsequent extramural grant applications.
