Gary Laderman writes and teaches about American religious history and cultures, including issues related to sexuality, science, popular culture and even death. He has been interviewed on topics ranging from funerals to horror films to televangelists by a variety of media
Laderman's most recent books are "Sacred Matters: Celebrity Worship, Sexual Ecstasies, the Living Dead, and Other Signs of Religious Life in the United States" (The New Press, 2009) and the e-book, "American Civil Religions" (Augsburg Fortress, 2012).
In addition to serving as chair of Emory's Department of Religion, Laderman is founder of the online religion magazine, Religion Dispatches.
