Letter to Emory Community from Board of Trustees Chair John Morgan
The following message was emailed to the Emory Community on behalf of John Morgan, chair of the Emory University Board of Trustees:
September 11, 2015
Dear Emory Community,
Earlier today, President Jim Wagner informed the Executive Committee of the Emory University Board of Trustees of his plans to step down as president at the end of August 2016.
We are privileged to have had the benefit of President Wagner’s wisdom and leadership for the past dozen years. His commitment to Emory has been unwavering, and his contributions to the University’s success are innumerable.
On a personal note, it has been a true honor to work so closely with Jim the past several years, and I am grateful for that opportunity.
One of the most important responsibilities of the Emory Board of Trustees is that of hiring the president. It is a responsibility we take very seriously and one that we must now turn to.
This fall we will establish a selection process to begin the work of identifying Emory’s next president. We will keep you informed at key junctures.
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, please accept my thanks for all that you do in service to Emory University.
Sincerely,
John F. Morgan
Chair
Board of Trustees
