Nationwide emergency alert test planned for Wednesday, Oct. 4 |
|
The Federal Emergency Management Agency, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will conduct a national test on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 2:20 p.m. The Emergency Alert System will broadcast messages on radios and televisions, while the Wireless Emergency Alert system will broadcast messages to cell phones (similar to an Amber Alert). In case the Oct. 4 test is postponed due to widespread severe weather or other significant events, the back-up testing date is Oct. 11. |
