CAMPUS
Share your thoughts about community at 'Conversations on the Quad'
"Community" is the theme as Emory faculty, staff and students are invited to the fall kickoff of "Conversations on the Quad," set for Thursday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Emory Quadrangle.

COMMUNITY
MARTA board of directors recommends $350 million for Clifton Corridor Line
Emory is encouraged by MARTA's announcement and looks forward to the board's Oct. 4 vote, President Claire E. Sterk said, calling the proposed funding "a historic commitment to public transportation and to the future of our community."

HEALTH
NIH $3 million grant will enable Emory, Georgia Tech researchers to tackle sickle cell disease with new technologies
The National Institutes of Health has awarded a four-year, $3 million grant to a research team at Emory and Georgia Tech that will use new technologies to improve the effectiveness of blood transfusions in patients with sickle cell disease.

ENVIRONMENT
Climate change calls for a fresh approach to water woes
In a recent partnership with legal scholar Barbara Cosens, Emory's Lance Gunderson is leading an interdisciplinary team of researchers in a project to assess the adaptive capacity of six major U.S. water basins, including the Everglades, to changing climates.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Emory's Laundry and Linen Services are 'loaded' with pride and perfection
It's an ongoing "spin cycle" for Emory's Laundry and Linen Services. See how this critical, around-the-clock operation cleans and disinfects over 600,000 pounds of linens every month.
