Research College, interrupted: Pandemic took toll on first-year students, study suggestsStudents’ narratives about COVID-19 and self-reported measures of their well-being show that those who began their college careers in fall 2019 report significantly higher rates of anxiety, depression and academic distress compared with prepandemic samples of first-year students. Emory professor of psychology Robyn Fivush was a co-author of the study and Jordan Booker, a former postdoctoral student at Emory, was first author. |

Celebration Congrats to the Class of 2026 Medical StudentsThe Class of 2026 is the largest M1 (first-year) class in Emory School of Medicine history, with 148 students. They represent 68 undergraduate institutions, with 29 students receiving a graduate degree prior to medical school and 90% of the class graduating from college more than a year ago. Last weekend’s White Coat Ceremony marked the beginning of these students’ journeys as physicians. |
