It's been a privilege

As I prepare to step down at the end of this month from my roles as executive vice president for Health Affairs of Emory University, executive director of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center, and CEO and chairman of the board for Emory Healthcare, I can’t overstate what an incredible privilege it has been to lead this team.

While I will miss working with you in my present capacity, I’m quite excited to be returning to my roots in innovation, education, and technology development as a member of the Emory radiology faculty. I’m eager to watch what I am confident will be the continued success and growth of this great institution, and to contribute in a new way.

Serving as Emory’s EVPHA and Emory Healthcare’s CEO has—thanks to all of you—been one of the most deeply fulfilling experiences of my life. I have had the great privilege to meet and work alongside many of the most brilliant, compassionate, and dedicated people working in academic medicine anywhere today. What I’ve learned about being a better medical professional, educator, and investigator—not to mention a more empathetic and inclusive human being—has been immeasurable. I will always cherish this experience, and I’m truly grateful to all of you.
