The size and diversity of Atlanta’s population comes with increasingly complex health challenges, to which no one medical professional can possibly have all the answers. This gave rise to the second pillar of the Woodruff Health Science Center’s strategic plan—interprofessional education and collaborative practice. Across the schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health, as well as within Emory Healthcare and the Woodruff Leadership Academy, we are focusing on fostering interprofessional, interdisciplinary teams working seamlessly across education, research, and clinical care. In this way, we are transforming our teaching and clinical practice to empower us to best serve our students, our patients, and our community.
