I hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season, and I trust you're looking forward to an outstanding year in 2019. As we head into Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I hope you'll take time not only to celebrate Dr. King's life and legacy, but also to reflect on the ways in which we can all apply his teachings in our daily lives.
Here in the Woodruff Health Sciences Center (WHSC), we are honored to share the same hometown as Dr. King and to serve his extraordinary vision through our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and collegiality and through our deep ties and service to the community he called home.
We strive to provide the finest care available anywhere to the poor, the uninsured and underinsured, veterans, and many others in need. We educate the next generation of health professionals to provide leading-edge, compassionate care to all. And we pioneer discoveries that help us better prevent, detect, and treat disease in all who turn to us for help.
We are committed to making a lasting and tangible difference in the lives of thousands of people every year, many of them among our community's most vulnerable. In this way, every member of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center carries on Dr. King's legacy every day.
