Emory recognizes newly tenured, promoted faculty

On Sept. 16, 2026, the Office of the Provost hosted a Newly Tenured and Promoted Faculty Reception in which 78 Emory faculty members were honored. The event recognized faculty who earned tenure and tenured faculty who were promoted to a higher rank in the 2025–26 academic year.
The cohort included:
• 3 faculty appointed to full professor with grant of tenure;
• 4 faculty appointed to associate professor with grant of tenure;
• 1 faculty promoted to full professor with grant of tenure;
• 37 faculty promoted to associate professor with grant of tenure;
• 10 faculty granted tenure in the current rank; and
• 23 tenured faculty promoted to full professor.
The event began with brief remarks from Pearl K. Dowe, senior vice provost for academic affairs; Adam Rogers 92C 96M, chair of the Emory Board of Trustees’ Academic Affairs Committee; and Giacomo Negro, vice provost for faculty affairs. The speakers praised the group for reaching significant career milestones and expressed thanks for their dedication to their work at Emory.
“The exceptional work that brought you to this moment has also inspired many others along the way,” said Dowe. “Students have discovered new passions, mentees have achieved their goals and colleagues have collaborated on consequential projects. Thank you for inspiring the Emory community with your knowledge and leadership.”
“It has been an honor to see the transformative contributions from this cohort of scholars,” said Rogers. “This enormous accomplishment represents a life of hard work and provides you the freedom to do the research you want to do. I look forward to seeing how you will push boundaries that grow the university.”
In his closing remarks, Negro spoke about how faculty make the fulfillment of Emory’s mission possible.
“Promotion and tenure are never decided lightly. The achievement of these milestones means that your scholarship, teaching and service reach Emory’s highest standard of excellence,” said Negro. “Faculty are the reason the university can make and keep its promises. Your dedication enables Emory to fulfill its mission to create, preserve, teach and apply knowledge in the service of humanity now and in the future.”
