With summer underway, Emory is committed to helping employees stay safe and supported at work and beyond.
June highlights important observances, including National Safety Month, Pride Month and PTSD Awareness Month, offering opportunities to focus on both physical safety and overall well-being. Take time to explore Emory resources, set personal goals and prioritize what helps you feel your best — whether that’s rest, learning, connection, or a combination of all three.
Focus on workplace safety awareness and preparedness
Creating a safe workplace starts with awareness, early action, identifying behaviors of concern and knowing how to respond. Employees are encouraged to complete workplace safety and violence prevention training tailored to their roles:
- Emory Healthcare employees can access training through HealthStream on topics including de-escalation, workplace violence and active shooter preparedness. For more information, email wvp@emoryhealthcare.org.
- Emory University employees can explore Emory Ready resources, including campus preparedness and response training as well as life support training.
All employees are also encouraged to download the Emory Safe app for quick access to safety tools and emergency information.
Want to get involved? Emory Medical Reserve Corps has volunteer opportunities that support Emory’s public health and health care preparedness and response through participation in education, drills and exercises, and advocacy.
Take time to rest and recharge
Time away is essential to maintaining well-being and preventing burnout. Whether it is a day off, a long weekend or a planned vacation, taking time to disconnect allows you to recharge and return with renewed energy.
Planning ahead can help you make the most of your time away, and with these resources it’s simple.
- Financial planning: Through Fidelity, employees have access to free one-on-one sessions with financial counselors to support budgeting, travel planning and long-term goals.
- Employee discounts: The Emory Discount Marketplace offers savings on travel, hotels, entertainment, local experiences and more.
Support mental health and recovery
June is PTSD Awareness Month, highlighting the impact that trauma can have on mental and emotional well-being. PTSD may show up as anxiety, sleep challenges or heightened stress responses, so understanding these signs is a key step in supporting yourself and others.
- Emory Healthcare employees can access confidential counseling, self-assessments, guided programs and live sessions through Revive & Thrive.
- Emory University employees have access to confidential counseling, expert consultations, work-life resources and personalized support through the Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP).
Celebrate community and belonging
Pride Month offers an opportunity to celebrate LGBTQ+ employees and foster a welcoming workplace. Employees are encouraged to participate in events, connect with others and explore opportunities that strengthen community and belonging across Emory.
- Emory Healthcare employees are invited to join the Rainbow Network. This group focuses on building connections, support and a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.
- Emory University employees can connect with the Emory Pride Employee Network (EPEN). This group supports LGBTQ+ employees and allies and is open to all university employees.
