For the first time since 2022 and ninth time in program history, the Emory University men’s basketball team captured the University Athletic Association (UAA) championship following a 93-89 win over the University of Rochester Feb. 28 on their home court in the Woodruff PE Center.

Seniors Ben Pearce and Jair Knight combined for 55 of the team’s 93 points. Pearce also claimed the record for the most successful three-pointers by a player during their Emory career: a total of 248. Read more about the game.

Emory’s win, coupled with Washington University defeating University of Chicago, meant the Eagles secured the league’s automatic bid for the NCAA Division III tournament. This will be the team’s 12th trip to the NCAA tournament in the past 13 years.

The Eagles enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the 64-team Division III field and will host the opening rounds Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7. Emory will play the MWU Owls at 7:15 p.m. Friday in the WoodPEC. Both teams are riding a seven-game winning streak.

Rhodes College will face Roanoke College earlier that afternoon. Friday’s winners will compete at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, with a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line.

The Eagles ended the regular season with a 22-3 overall record (12-2 UAA).
