Men’s basketball advances to NCAA Elite Eight competition

The Emory men’s basketball team chalked up another victory during the NCAA Division III tournament on Friday afternoon, defeating Yeshiva University 101-80 in front of a capacity home crowd in the Woodruff PE Center. Now the team moves to the Elite Eight bracket, where they’ll take on Illinois Wesleyan University on Thursday, March 19.

The game against Yeshiva marked the Eagles’ first time hosting a Round of 16 competition. All five members of Emory’s starting lineup reached double figures, with senior Ben Pearce scoring 26 points and 10 assists.

Thursday’s game against Illinois Wesleyan will be Emory’s second consecutive trip to the Elite Eight and the third in program history. Tip off will be at 3:30 p.m. EST in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
