Jennifer Frediani, PhD, RD, ACSM-CES, assistant professor at the Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, has been named a Fellow of the Society of Behavioral Medicine.
This honor recognizes Frediani for her outstanding contributions to advancing behavioral medicine, including significant academic, clinical and research achievements.
The Society of Behavioral Medicine Fellowship is reserved for leaders whose work has meaningfully shaped the field. Frediani’s research centers on developing weight‑neutral diet and exercise interventions for cardiometabolic health and leading clinical studies on novel diagnostic devices and wearables. Leveraging her expertise in nutrition assessment and clinical trials, she works with partners at Georgia Tech and Emory’s Rollins School of Public Health to direct interdisciplinary studies spanning lifestyle modification to COVID-19-related interventions.
Dr. Frediani has been involved in several high-impact initiatives, including:
- Pivotal research on SARS-CoV-2 testing that informed Centers for Disease Control and Prevention policy, with findings published in Clinical Infectious Diseases and other leading scientific journals.
- Receipt of the “Best Football is Medicine Program in the World” award for her innovative soccer-based diabetes prevention intervention designed for communities with limited access.
- Work on teams that secured major NIH and foundation grants while publishing extensively across multiple areas of population health research.
In addition to her research accomplishments, Frediani is playing a key role in shaping the School of Nursing’s academic future. She serves as director for the new Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition, set to launch in Fall 2026. This graduate program will prepare students to lead in the rapidly evolving field of nutrition as Registered Dietitian Nutritionists.
Frediani will be inducted as a Fellow at the organization’s annual meeting April 22-25 in Chicago.
