Dooley’s Week, a themed-week of events including Taste of Emory, concerts and other entertainment activities for students, is April 8-14. This year’s theme is Dooley in Vegas.

This year’s Dooley’s Ball Concert will be Saturday, April 13, at McDonough Field, headlined by indie-pop band AJR. Opening acts for the concert are Prinz George and Matt and Kim. Doors open at 7 p.m. and will be closed for entry at 10:45 p.m.

Emory students are allowed to have one guest. Guest registration, open now, requires a $10 fee. The fee is designed to encourage students to only reserve a guest pass if they are certain their guest will be attending the concert. It also creates equity in case of a capacity issue at the concert and pays for guest costs as the costs, including the artists, for Emory students are all covered by the Student Activity Fee.

The following events are planned for the week:

  • “Welcome to Vegas” on Monday, April 8, at 6 p.m. at Asbury Circle and Cox Bridge. An extravagant chocolate fountain is in the spotlight at this event, and there will be magician performances, caricature artists and giveaways.
  • Taste of Emory,” a free food-tasting experience, on Tuesday, April 9, at 4 p.m. on McDonough Field. The best restaurants in Atlanta will make their way to campus, offering sample treats from Double Zero, Butter and Cream, Dragon Bowl and more.
  • “Vegas: World Tour,” the Wonderful Wednesday event, at noon on Cox Bridge. Get treats, maybe a cool T-shirt or tatto, from around the world – from France to New York City.
  • “Vegas After Dark,” part of Wednesday After Dark, at 6 p.m. at Asbury Circle and Cox Bridge. This month's Wonderful Wednesday After Dark will be hosted by the Student Programming Council. There will be free food and free beer if you're 21+, and student organizations will be on hand with info and more.
  • “That’s What You Get for Waking Up in Vegas,” from the College Council, on Thursday, April 11, at 11 a.m. on Cox Bridge. Come and see why mistakes are meant to be made at this fun event hosted by the College Council. Then at noon on Thursday, also on Cox Bridge and at Asbury Circle, “Vegas Party Animals.” Party with an interactive petting zoo. There'll also be sweet treats to eat and Dooley's Week merchandise.
  • “Club Dooley,” on Friday, April 12, 8 p.m. out at the Campus Life Pavilion. It will be worth a trip down Peavine Creek Drive for the live DJ, free food and drinks at the Club Dooley LED party.
  • First-Year Dinner, on Saturday, April 13, 6 p.m. First-Year Quad. Emory Dining will serve free dinner before the concert.

Events will feature free food and giveaways.

The final event of Dooley’s Week will be a performance by comedian Mikey Day, featured player on “Saturday Night Live,” with Streeter Seidell, writing supervisor for SNL. Day will speak on Sunday, April 14, in White Hall, Room 208. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event begins at 7 p.m. It is open to Emory undergraduate students with an Emory ID and capacity is limited.

Sponsors For Dooley’s Week include Emory Arts Underground, Residence Hall Association, Emory Miracle, Student Activities Committee, Emory Entrepreneurship & Venture Management, Emory Indian Cultural Exchange and Wonderful Wednesday.

Emory Miracle, a sponsor of Dooley’s Week, will host its Dance Marathon on Friday, April 12, in Cox Ballroom from 5-9 p.m.

“We would love to have any participation from the Emory community, whether it be students, faculty, or staff. Dance Marathon is our way of celebrating the money we’ve raised throughout the year for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta,” says Camilla Gallin, chair of the event.
