That relationship led to the annual Tibet Week observance (which began Sunday) and the Year of Compassion through Emory College of Arts and Sciences. Another longstanding Emory partnership was with President Jimmy Carter, who served as Emory Distinguished Professor for more than 40 years. The legacy of President Jimmy Carter |

This week, we’re looking back on the enduring legacy of President Jimmy Carter, who served as Emory University Distinguished Professor for more than 40 years and founded The Carter Center in collaboration with the university. On Oct. 1, what would have been President Carter’s 101st birthday, The Carter Center hosts the U.S. Postal Service for a first-day-of-issue dedication ceremony for a new Forever stamp design paying tribute to the 39th president. “The President and The Dragon,” an independent documentary chronicling his decades-long fight to eradicate Guinea worm, also debuts that day on several on-demand platforms, including Amazon.
