A biologist explores how animals heal themselves

In his new book, “Doctors by Nature: How Ants, Apes and Other Animals Heal Themselves,” Emory biologist Jaap de Roode explores the growing field of animal self-medication. He will speak at the Michael C. Carlos Museum on Thursday, March 20, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss how animals utilize their medicinal powers.

Pushing Emory closer to sustainability goals through waste diversion

Emory began working with a new waste diversion company, Waste Eliminator, this semester to take recycling and compost bin contents to appropriate locations, helping Emory reach sustainability goals like diverting greater amounts of waste from landfills.

The funding will support new scholarship from Emory College faculty members Sameena Mulla and Christina E. Crawford as they examine the subjective factors in criminal sentencing and the development of Atlanta’s public housing.
