CONNECTIONS Data for justice: Faculty across disciplines explore equity in AI A multidisciplinary team of professors is co-teaching an undergraduate course on the emerging field of data justice and the concepts of bias, fairness, discrimination and ethics inherent within data science and automated systems. CAMPUS Together again: Staff Fest returns to the Quad on May 13 Celebrate the end of the academic year with the first in-person Staff Fest since 2019. SCIENCE Emory researchers successfully use mRNA to activate genes An Emory study is the first to show that mRNA can be used to activate genes in animals. The discovery could lead to someday helping control how the immune system responds to pathogens. HEALTH Georgia's first immediate care center specifically for patients with cancer opens at Winship On April 18, Winship Cancer Institute opened the first immediate cancer care center in Georgia. The Rollins Immediate Care Center of Winship at Emory University Hospital bridges the gap between the cancer center and the emergency room.
