Emory becomes DeKalb County voting location
Starting with early voting May 2, DeKalb County residents will be able to vote on Emory’s Atlanta campus in the 1599 Building. DeKalb residents with Emory University as their assigned polling place can vote here on election day.

Sparks Foundation supports collaboration integrating addiction services into primary care
The Addiction Alliance of Georgia partnership is set to work with the Grady Health System and other community partners to integrate additional substance use disorder services into Grady’s primary care clinics.

 

RESEARCH
Treating mild preexisting high blood pressure improves pregnancy outcomes
A new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine provides evidence that treating mild chronic hypertension with medications is beneficial and safe for pregnant people and their babies. Emory was one of the sites for the clinical trial.

HONOR
Emory’s Dennis Liotta awarded prestigious medal for his many contributions to lifesaving research
Researcher and inventor Dennis Liotta is the 2022 recipient of the Perkin Medal, the highest honor a scientist can receive for contributions to applied chemistry in the U.S. His discoveries include transformative treatments for HIV and hepatitis B.

Join the Office of the Provost to explore the ethical implications of AI in a new AI.Humanity Ethics Lecture Series. Algorithms increasingly mediate and govern our social relations. Lazar will propose a framework to guide our efforts, with particular attention to the conditions under which private algorithmic power either can, or must not, be tolerated.
