RESEARCH Emory, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta seek volunteers to help test COVID-19 tests Adults and children showing symptoms of COVID-19 can participate in a study helping to test COVID-19 tests. To be eligible, individuals must have symptoms and not have been tested for the virus during their current course of illness. RECOGNITION International Awards highlight Emory’s global network Meet the recipients of Emory's 2021-22 International Awards, celebrating the extraordinary work of a faculty member, an international alumnus and a staff member in the global community. The awards will be presented during a virtual event March 23. CONNECTIONS Inaugural Science Gallery Atlanta research fellows named As Science Gallery Atlanta Faculty Research Fellows, Emory faculty members Eri Saikawa and Madeleine Hackney will build on their community-based research to strengthen public engagement in the sciences and the arts. ACADEMICS Emory Libraries announce open access publishing agreement with Cambridge University Press Emory University authors and researchers can now publish their work “open access” in all Cambridge University Press journals without paying a publishing cost, thanks to an agreement between Emory Libraries and Cambridge University Press. INNOVATION Out of the ‘Shark Tank’ and into the market: Where are they now? Appearing on “Shark Tank,” although daunting, is often an entrepreneur’s dream. Go behind the scenes with Emory entrepreneurs who made the cut and find out what happened after their shows aired.

Commemoration   Emory will commemorate the 2021 Atlanta spa shootings with several vigils on Wednesday, March 16. The Emory Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (OSRL) will offer its Midweek Musical Meditation at 12 p.m. online. The Office for Racial and Cultural Engagement and the Asian Student Center will view this vigil from AMUC 108, followed by a guided reflection and conversation facilitated by OSRL and Emory Counseling and Psychological Services. At 12:15 p.m., the Asian Pacific American Medical Students Association will host a moment of silence on the School of Medicine lawn. All vigils are open to all students, faculty and staff. FEATURED EVENTS   "The Deafblind Woman that Conquered Harvard Law" with Haben Girma The first Deafblind person to graduate from Harvard Law School, Haben Girma is a human rights lawyer advancing disability justice who has been named a White House Champion of Change, among other honors. When: March 17, 12:00 p.m. Where: Online Admission: Free; registration required Tenenbaum Family Lecture: "Judaism and Climate Change: Environmental Ethics and Social Activism" with Hava Tirosh-Samuelson Drawing on her broader work on the intersection of Judaism and ecology, Hava Tirosh-Samuelson will explore how, along with other world religions, Judaism has recognized the challenges posed by climate change and has inspired its own forms of religious environmentalism. Special attention will be paid to the relationship between religious and secular dimensions of Jewish climate advocacy that links ecological justice to social justice.
