Film screening, conversation on life and work of Pellom McDaniels set for Feb. 7
To celebrate Black History Month, Emory Libraries will partner with Atlanta-based BronzeLens Film Festival to host “Athlete. Scholar. Activist: Chapters in the Life of Dr. Pellom McDaniels III” on Feb. 7 with special guests Fahamu Pecou, Valerie Boyd and others.

Science Gallery Atlanta names curator for inaugural exhibition on addiction
Cultural producer, writer and documentarian Floyd Hall will serve as curator for “Hooked,” scheduled to open at Science Gallery Atlanta in early 2022.

Remembering theological ethicist James M. Gustafson, faculty member who guided the Luce Seminars
With the passing of emeritus faculty member James M. Gustafson on Jan. 15, the world lost “a towering scholar,” says former Emory President James T. Laney, who led the university’s efforts to recruit him in the late 1980s.

 

ACCOMPLISHMENT
Alumna wins selective fellowship to study, serve in U.S. Foreign Service
Mary Bohn, a 2020 Emory graduate, has been named a Thomas Pickering Fellow by the U.S. State Department. She is Emory’s fourth fellow in the highly competitive program, which requires a five-year commitment to the Foreign Service.

CAMPUS
Master planning update anticipates investment that will shape Emory’s future
In 1915, architect Henry Hornbostel drafted Emory’s first master plan, establishing the foundation for strategic growth that continues today. The new framework plan will improve student experiences, invest in more interdisciplinary facilities and develop a stronger connection with Atlanta.
