SEMESTER BEGINS   CAMPUS New semester brings new initiatives and events across Emory The nine schools that make up Emory University head into the new semester with innovative initiatives, achievements to celebrate and a full slate of engaging virtual speakers and events. ARTS New Carlos Museum exhibit presents Islamic art through time and place “Wondrous Worlds: Art and Islam Through Time and Place” explores the long history, vast geographic expanse and remarkable diversity of works of art in the Islamic world. The exhibit will be open through spring semester.

EMORY FORWARD   COVID-19 update: Because of the rising prevalence of COVID-19 in our region, the university is adjusting the campus gathering status until Feb. 8. Visit the Emory Forward website for information and to learn about vaccines, the onboarding process for faculty and staff who will be on campus this spring, and more.

NEWS   IMPACT MLK Scholars program continues King’s legacy of service, leadership Emory’s Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship has impacted lives for more than 50 years. Read how three recipients continue to carry King’s legacy into their communities. HONOR Annual MLK Jr. Lecture to focus on ‘Legacy and Responsibilities’ The MLK Jr. Lecture features Emory alum Maggie Anderson discussing "Economic Unity: Our Peaceful and Powerful Protest." Anderson, author of "Our Black Year," speaks Thursday, Jan. 28, at 4 p.m. Learn more and register to attend the online event. LEGACY Emory mourns the loss of Braves baseball legend Hank Aaron Atlanta Braves icon Henry "Hank" Aaron received an honorary degree from Emory in 1995. The university’s archives include extensive materials from Aaron’s career, including the hate mail he received when he closed in on Babe Ruth’s home run record. HEALTH Wellness Champions keep Emory employees engaged and connected From virtual dance parties to online cooking demonstrations, Healthy Emory’s Wellness Champions help keep employees’ minds on health and well-being, even during the pandemic.
