COMMUNITY Presidential inauguration features Decatur boy who played trumpet to inspire Emory health care workers A sixth grader who sought to bring “happiness and hope” to health care workers by playing his trumpet outside Emory Decatur Hospital is being featured as part of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. INSIGHT Most people don’t want to hate, Emory’s Robert Franklin writes on CNN In a column for CNN, Robert Franklin, professor of moral leadership, offers steps everyone can take to “reduce the tension, volume and heartburn in the country.” INSPIRATION ‘Inaugural’ poem by professor Jericho Brown featured in New York Times Jericho Brown, winner of the 2020 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry, composes a new poem in the New York Times to mark the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

KING WEEK   IMPACT Online events honor Martin Luther King Jr. Rev. Emory won the case on appeal in the Georgia Supreme Court and began admitting African American students in 1963. Lewis Racial Justice Case Competition The student-led competition focuses on the intersection of business and racial inequality by encouraging students to create innovative and actionable racial justice initiatives for corporations.
