RESEARCH Emory joins NIH-sponsored coronavirus vaccine study Emory’s Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Unit is participating in a clinical trial testing a vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19, the first such vaccine to be tested in the United States. COMMUNITY Hawks and State Farm support Atlanta’s health care heroes The Hawks Foundation and State Farm are providing support to deliver meals to workers treating COVID-19 patients at Emory Healthcare. The multi-week program also will bolster Atlanta's restaurant community. SCIENCE Experts raise alarm for great apes amid COVID-19 pandemic Primate experts warn that the global human health emergency of COVID-19 also threatens our closest living relatives — endangered great apes — because of susceptibility to human respiratory diseases. ACTIVITIES ‘Carlos from Home’ helps people engage with art in new ways Enjoy the Michael C. Carlos Museum from the comfort of home during this time of social distancing. A new page on the Carlos website features activities, videos, podcasts and more related to the museum’s exhibits. New content is added weekly, including activities for children. COMMITMENT All hands on deck: Welcoming Oxford students to Atlanta Staff at Oxford College come together to help students who can’t return home for remote learning transition to living on Emory’s Atlanta campus.
